A Very Merry Christmas

Hội An. A lovely ancient city, with its deep winding canals through its centre and a most beautiful sustained Ancient Town. This gorgeous site along the coast of Vietnam hosts a plethora of fine architecture and was noted as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1999.

We took a walk through this centuries old historic town with its glimmering lanterns and eye catching street food. As the afternoon turned to evening, we boarded our wish boat and somewhere in the middle of the water, my Asian conical hat in tow, my wish was set free beneath us, on the smooth glass we floated along, from inside a paper box and a small candle.

The street food in Hội An is also something to look at. From pizzas made of crabs, to smoking ice cream, to anything and everything in between that was once living and can fit on a stick, they really know how to grab the everyday tourist's attention!

Meanwhile, far, far away in a grassy land, there lived a beautiful princess inside a gorgeous medieval castle alongside a Victorian Gothic Revival mansion. Except the princess was outside the mansion, not an actual princess, and was wearing fur boots.

It is now called Cardiff Castle, and was built in the late 11th Century by Norman invaders who built it on top of a 3rd Century Roman fort. Back then, however, it was called bailey castle, very appropriate name if you ask me. It is still very beautiful and majestic as ever, as well as the surrounding motte being very much intact even after everything it must have seen.

And further away still, nestled in a nightclub somewhere on Christmas night, there were two green Santa Clauses. They found themselves out one night under the mistletoe after a long drive with the reindeer.

And, I heard them exclaim as they danced out of sight, a very Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight.
