When In Philly

When you visit Philadelphia, it's very important that you meet the Pope.

And of all the places in the world you will find him, he will be sighted here, at none other than the Franklin Institute on 20th Street. It's a science museum named after Benjamin Franklin, the scientist and statesman. Apart from housing the Pope, the Franklin Institute also houses the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial, but we weren't as interested in that.

You must also see the Reading Terminal Market in the city's center. Originally opened in 1893, The Reading Market boasts more than 100 merchants, selling everything from books and clothing to meat and cheese. There are 2 official vendors who are real live descendants from when the market opened in the 1800's. We enjoyed 3 Philly Cheese steaks. Each.

Another absolute must is visiting the "Rocky" steps just outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art. 72 fearless steps that actor Sylvester Stallone climbed in the 1976 drama, Rocky. Hard to find anything more inspiring than this 2 ton, 10 foot tall statue of the underdog. Tourists have been re creating Rocky's iconic, triumphant running scene for centuries.

And last but not least, you must also pay a visit to the Citizens Bank Park Stadium and have a few giant hot dogs with all the trimmings as you watch the Phillies versus the Mets. Don't be too hasty with those onions.
And that, my friends, is how you see Philadelphia.
