Portugal

And then, there was Portugal.

Portugal, where sardines and cod are the national dishes and port wine is their famous export. The beaches famous, the architecture stunning. The bustling city of Lisbon and the vibrant university nightlife of Porto make this country an all too wonderful place to explore.

We begin in Porto, at the Lello bookstore. J.K. Rowling lived in Portugal for a time, and got inspiration for her writing about Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from many places, and right here, at Lello was one of them. It is quite simply the most beautiful bookstore on the planet.

And further away along the seaside just outside of Lisbon, lies the Boca do Inferno, or Devil's Mouth. The water causes a dazzling disruption of flying water particles against the gorge of rocks, so beautifully that any tourist would marvel at its mighty fire and fury.

And another major tourist destination, tucked away in the Iberian Peninsula, lives the port wine of the world. Along the Douro river lies a most gorgeous selection of vineyards that produce Portuguese fortified wine, the best and only real port in the world.

And, jump into the crystal clear waters at Peneda-Gerês National Park, or Gerês National Park near the spanish border. Greeting us along the trail we hiked up to this body of water, were milestones, rugged terrain and goats. I ended up taking a goat home with me after a quick dip.

Another day, another adventure with many of JK Rowling's inspirations, port wine along the river, sheer cliffs and gorgeous landscapes.
