Happy Birthday

Dear Dad,

Happy Birthday.

This last month I went to the country of the Czech Republic with my roommate Ronita. The city's called Prague. We had a ball, this is St. Vitus Cathedral at the Prague castle. The inside had some very well done stained glass. Not like those stained glass projects I made for my grade 9 home economics course, but almost as nice. It was pretty cool.

Ronita is from Fiji. That's beside Australia basically. (not really, but close enough) She's been living with me for these whole 4 and some years. The temperature in Fiji never goes below 20 degrees and she's never seen snow before. So of course we went to an ice bar. It was 6 degrees in there. Everything was made of ice. The glasses, chairs, tables and some big guy that looked like the Michelin man, all made out of ice. It pains me to admit this but yes, I was cold. But I made sure I looked tough in front of Ronita. Can't have her thinking Canadians are wusses.

And then I went to Dallas in Texas of all places. I invited everyone to come and visit, but it was a Monday I think. And to be honest, Dallas isn't a place I'd go if I had to pay, either.

So this artist named Robert Summers made all these bronze long horned steers in Dallas and there's 49 of them. I don't know how long it took him but he started in 1992, and they are 30 percent bigger than life size. Look pretty real huh?

Finally I got to go to the Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas. Susan and Karl came to see me in Dallas earlier this year but I was a "wuss" that time and we didn't go because it was too cold. So this time I was ready, with about 5 layers! This photo cost me 5 bucks. I guess I could have gotten this same photo at the farm, for free. This one didn't buck me off though, so it was worth it.

Anyway, Dax is getting bigger, he had the cutest little dragon costume for Halloween, Kate's got a job in Calgary so she's moving, Missy and Lucas went around the world practically, Mardell and Verlyn got an award for being the best at basically everything, which I thought was long overdue, and last Christmas I gave everyone middle eastern head gear for the best family portrait you could have asked for. And of course everyone misses you, myself very much included.

Love your daughter,

Bailey Sue
