Not So Solo

The brown sand of Huacachina brought many good memories, however one soon gets tired of a sea of desert. Moving on. Further south, with almost a million inhabitants, lies the city of Arequipa. This delightful setting is a university town, nicknamed 'The White City' because of its many buildings made of 'sillar', a pearly white volcanic rock. It sits at the foot of the inactive volcano entitled 'El Misti' which, as well as earthquakes, completely destroyed the city hundreds of years ago because it just couldn't keep its lava locked up, spewed it everywhere. Now, there are a lot of activities that can be done in Arequipa. We took a cooking class together, made some sort of concoction of meat and spices stuffed inside bell peppers with a delicious appetizer; layers of tuna and avocado in between sweet potatoes. We went horsebackriding in the outskirts of Arequipa, galloped through farmers' fields beneath a breathtaking view of the Andes mountains and the Rio Chili. We went outdoor rock climbing and finished the day by relaxing in the natural hot springs of Arequipa, just outside of town with local peruvians. And well, it may seem cheesy, romantic, that's because it is. There is no way around it. His name is Matthew Predergast, and that's all I have to say about that. It's one of those moments in which you look to your side and realize that you have spent all of your time together, everyday for nearly an entire month and you don't plan on separating too soon. And here we now stand, in Bolivia. Well, let's see what this country has to offer now, shall we? Miss Not-So-Solo Anymore.
