We had met for but a moment once, in Medellin. Contact was kept, however sporadic for quite some time, and pretty soon we found ourselves close enough to hop on over and meet again in the same city for a nice rendez-vous. We met back again in Medellin, lovely time we had. Medellin is a beautiful city. There is a cable car that soars up in the clouds, when in it you feel quite small and insignificant as you stare out at the vast mix of rusting tin roofs and skyscrapers as far as the eye can see. We participated in a guided tour of Pablo Escobar's house, grave, and a visit with his brother. It was a fascinating look at the life of Pablo in the cocaine industry, his influence and enthralling history as one of the most dangerous people in the world. We enjoyed many a nice warm beverage, Alex can cook pretty well too. There was also a roaring DJ concert we attended, fantastic no less, and a nice light show spanning over the river of the city. Brilliant. Now I know what you are thinking, and I hate to be a disappointment. No, this will not be the part in which I say we are going to live happily ever after. I apologize. Alex, an ozzie from ozzieland, has turned out to be my own personal postman. For, as well as coming back down to Salento with me to pick up some coffee for my family, he agreed to take it straight to them up to Canada for me. Free of charge for the Christmas season. Alex is a rather funny individual. Out of high school, he went straight from Australia into Iraq and Afghanistan. This would prove to take up 7 years of his life. I'm not sure how he is always so cheerful, after going through something like that. So placid and composed, you would never guess what the man has been through. I have the utmost respect for this individual, but folks, let's not jump to conclusions. I am the farthest thing from romantically interested. He has been travelling for eleven months on the wealth of money he saved from the army. He has no plans of stopping now, but will be in Canada very soon. The 20th of December he lands in Calgary, will stay for a week or so and then move onto Banff and Jasper area for those who are familiar. He will do what all the Ozzies do when in Canada, become a ski bum. Auntie Kirsti, you are going to meet this lovely chap, and very soon. But let's not get all excited, I have given him your contact information and HE will contact YOU when he is settled and ready. Alex has a lovely thing or two to give you. Nice dip back down to Salento from Medellin, it is good to go to a place in which you are already familiar with sometimes. The best of the best in coffee, and always delightful scenery. And now, here I sit in the country's capital city, Bogota. I have not yet been, so I am not sure what this city is all about. I think a little exploration is in order. I have included a picture of Alex and I at the lightshow in Medellin, as well as one of me picking coffee, for you my dear family. Pardon me for ruining your Christmas surprise.
Bailey
